OUR TEAM

CHOICE promotes the joint action of 9 organisations (non-profit, business, education institutions, advocacy network) across 5 European countries (Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Belgium) who will carry out a cross-disciplinary, bottom-up process leading to the production of innovative open educational resources (OERs) providing real-world examples regarding the implementation of STE(A)M approaches into teaching.

Cesie, Italy

CESIE is a non-profit, apolitical, and non-governmental organisation based in Palermo (Italy) and established in 2001. CESIE is committed to promote the cultural, social, educational and economic development at local, national, European and international levels and contributes to growth and development through the active participation of people, civil society and institutions, always valuing diversity.

 

CESIE has extensive experience in EU projects and implements a variety of actions with different stakeholders, including schools and local authorities, linking local, national and international contexts. CESIE has experience with the design and implementation of new tools and methods able to support innovation in education, thus will ensure effective project coordination and achievement of project goals and will guide partners in the processes of innovative co-creation of OER and media and development of MOOC.

Liceo scientifico Benedetto Croce, Italy

"Liceo Statale Benedetto Croce” is a State secondary school specialising in scientific subjects. There are 1,500 students originating from various areas of the town as well as from the surrounding villages. The students of this school generally go on to university and succeed in getting into scientific branches, but many of them also choose to move to social studies.

The school proposes innovative courses like forensic biology and promotes the direct experience of the students and teachers in Palermo Scienza, a regional event where the students can showcase their scientific work. The school proposes innovative activities promoting student, teacher and school management cooperation as well as EU projects. In line with this, within CHOICE teachers and students will be involved in the implementation of the project activities mainly related to research, Creative Leadership team, teacher trainings, co-creation of OERs, MOOC piloting and providing inputs to awareness-raising campaign and policy-reform.

GrantXpert Consulting Ltd, Cyprus

GrantXpert Consulting is a Cypriot-based SME formed in 2009, with extensive expertise in providing training and consulting services to local organisations for European and national programmes, in implementing research work on entrepreneurial topics and on educational topics, and in the development of innovative educational programmes.

GrantXpert currently employs 10 people, with different research expertise and with more than 20 years of accumulated working experience in EU-funding projects and in the development of educational programmes. GrantXpert has developed research expertise in the areas of entrepreneurship education for start-up founders, leadership skills, employability programmes, teacher’s skills related to Positive Psychology, Educational Psychology and Character development, innovation and creativity skills for university students, knowledge alliances between academia and industry, enhancement of women and youth entrepreneurship.

Grammar school Nicosia, Cyprus

Grammar School, founded in 1963, provides challenging and diverse learning opportunities. It promotes creativity, independent thinking and empowers students to become capable, caring and active contributors to the world in which they live. The school’s vision is to create an educational community of students, parents and staff where learning proceeds at its best.

Grammar school hosts the “STEM Academy Program” which takes place in a fully equipped Innovation Laboratory where students solve problems creatively and sharpen their critical thinking. Through scientific exploration, students learn to formulate questions that can be tested and presented in the form of an engineering design challenge. The school adopts a curriculum that involves real problem-solving scenarios students face in their daily life. Teachers and students will directly be involved in the implementation of the project activities mainly related to research, Creative Leadership team, teacher trainings, co-creation of OERs, MOOC piloting and providing inputs to awareness-raising campaign and policy-reform.

ΕUROTraining, Greece

ΕUROTraining is an Educational Organisation of national scope, specialising in the sectors of Energy, Agriculture and Aquaculture, New Technologies and ICT, Entrepreneurship, Financial Management and Tourism. ΕUROTraining aims to satisfy the needs of enterprises, bodies & organisations both in the public and the private sector.

EUROTraining is experienced in vocational education related to information technology and has a strong experience in the preparation and implementation of EU projects, contributing to the development of teaching material and of the online learning environments related to STEM subjects. The association, making its expertise available to the partnership, will lead the analysis phase and ensure the implementation of project activities in Greece.

Regional Directorate of Education of Western Greece, Greece

PDEDE (Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education in Western Greece, PDEDE) is an education organisation under the umbrella of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religion. It is a decentralised structure supervising and implementing educational policy of the Greek Ministry of Education on the secondary level. It is in charge of over 1135 schools of primary and secondary level, more than 12.150 teachers and 90.000 students in three Prefectures.

PDEDE also supervises European projects in schools and arranges annual events to maximise their impact, thus having great potential to support mainstreaming of CHOICE. In line with this experience, PDEDE will be able to reach out to school’s teachers and students to be involved in activities mainly related to research, Creative Leadership team, teacher trainings, co-creation of OERs, MOOC piloting and providing inputs to awareness-raising campaign and policy-reform

Blue Room innovation, Spain

Blue Room Innovation S.L. (BRI) is a Spanish SME set up in 2015. Blue Room Innovation is a unique innovation ecosystem which brings together established companies to help others to do more business, update technology and get funding. In doing so, they are active on- and offline and cover three main areas for achieving our goal: Open Innovation, Digital Transformation and Financing of Innovation.

Based on its experience in technological development of platforms and innovative technological approaches, Blue Room will take the lead in the technical development of the MOOC (A. 3.4). In addition, Blue Room experts experience can certify more than 10 years of experience in developing and evaluating technology and project management, gives them the expertise to lead evaluation and quality assurance (WP5).

Institut de Maçanet de la Selva, Spain

Maçanet de la Selva Secondary School is located in the south-west province of Girona bordering Barcelona. It is a young, Catalan, state school which opened just 9 years ago, and it is willing to become an outstanding centre in the town. Nowadays, the staff consists of 33 teachers along with 3 administrative staff and 262 students between 12 and 18 years old. The school aims to encourage curiosity and bring science to younger people and tries to promote contextualised activities, which convey previous knowledge and trigger critical reasoning.

Key staff at the school includes the headmaster with experience teaching subjects related to biology, geology, physics, chemistry, computing and mathematics. The school’s teachers and students will be involved in the implementation of the project activities mainly related to research, Creative Leadership team, teacher trainings, co-creation of OERs, MOOC piloting and providing inputs to awareness-raising campaign and policy-reform.

Lifelong Learning Platform, Belgium

The Lifelong Learning Platform (formerly EUCIS-LLL) was created in 2005 and gathers today 42 European networks working in education, training and youth. These organisations represent millions of actors across Europe & cover all sectors of education & training including networks for secondary and higher education, VET, adult education and popular education; networks for students, school heads, parents, HRD professionals, teachers and trainers. LLLP was acknowledged by the European Commission in 2009 as a “unique representation” of lifelong learning of the various education & training actors organised at EU level.

LLLP has been closely following all EU policy developments connected to STEM education (Key Competences for LLL, New strategies for school, ET2020, Skill Agenda and Education Monitor results) and reacted to the revision of the Key Competences framework for LLL, advocating to include a STEAM approach instead of STEM. Due to its expertise, LLLP holds a critical role in enhancing CHOICE’s impact and mainstreaming.
